Amina Shahid ESF. Just hearing these 3 letters, what words and actions come to mind? Maybe Christmas, or you're reminded of the season of giving. This year at Cameron Heights we want each and every student to know what these three letters mean and why we continue this tradition every single year. ESF is CHCI’s annual event that stands for Empty Stocking Fund, with all the money we raise going to Child and Family Services. We host events like Krispy Kreme Day, Cake Auction, Silent Auction, Candy-Grams, and more. Yet the question remains why? Why do we do these events every year? At Cameron Heights we love to give and ESF provides the perfect platform for us to do just that. We host these events to put smiles on the faces of children who can't afford to fill their tree with presents. To shed a light on the people who may need some extra help this holiday season. It's not charity for us anymore, rather an act of helping out those in need. Extending a helping hand to those who may feel lost. We do it to ensure that we can make a difference in at least one life. Now that this ESF season is over and you’ve got a deeper understanding of our purpose, let's recap. We started off ESF with the sale of Krispy Kreme Donuts which was a huge success as the line of hungry students filled the entire caf! Next we had Candy-Grams on sale for the entire week. Loads of students came by to purchase some candy canes or bags of candy for their friends and it was amazing to see Cameron's love for one another. Continuing, Cake Auction blew up the caf, and even managed to reign in the WRPS! We had all kinds of beautiful cakes and it was a real phenomenon to see everyone come together to support not only Cake Auction but ESF. Some groups were so generous that they donated their remaining change without buying a cake! Lastly, we finished up with Silent Auction and Photos with Santa. Silent Auction showcased all types of items to bid on from a jar of pickles to 2 Raptors tickets and merch! It was great to see people bidding on future Christmas gifts or even treating themselves! Additionally, photos with Santa saw some great shots of Cameron Gaels being involved and continuing this decades old tradition. But I know what you must be thinking. How much did we raise? Well… Let me tell you Cameron Heights, you better be pumped for this Holiday Assembly because we’ll be telling you just how much we raised and the amazing purchases we made to support Family and Children Services. So just remember: it's the season to give, so give! Don't be a scourge and find the love within your heart to help someone in need this holiday. Be the one to extend an extra hand or the first to drop some spare change in someone's cup. Be the change, Gaels!
